Ahhhhhh guys! 24 episodes later, we made it through an entire season of GROWradio! I am so honoured, grateful, and appreciative of each and every download, comment, review, and share. THANK YOU for helping me to create GROWradio into the valuable resource it is today!

One of the biggest requests I get for the podcast is to share pieces of my own story - Especially after I shared episode 9, which was easily my most vulnerable episodesof season 1 - until now.

Some of you may already know a little bit about Nate’s wild birth story, but today, I’m actually sharing a recording I did at the very beginning of my podcasting journey. You will likely be able to tell that I wasn’t quite as experienced as I am at this point, which I think makes this the perfect way to close out the season - Honouring my start, and sharing the story of the day my son was worn - The day I was born into motherhood (more photos & videos below).

A week after Nate’s birth, a close friend came to visit and took me out for a tea and a drive. It was the first time I left the house and the first time I was without Nate. We stopped at the waterfront, and I had a very sudden emotional release. I sat in her car and I cried, I relived all of the emotion of the day Nate was born, and how scary the thought of losing him was.

I share this because, for any mother who has experienced a traumatic birth, you will know how deeply this kind of experience can change you. This is why sharing our stories and CONNECTING us as women matters so much.

Whether you’re a mom who had an experience like me, a woman who has experienced infertility or miscarriage, a mom of babies in heaven, a woman who has suffered from postpartum depression, or a woman who has had 3 perfect, beautiful births, know that we are indeed all one.

If you know a mama out there who has experienced a traumatic birth please SHARE this episode with them. I truly wish in the moments after Nate was born that I was able to find strength in knowing I was not alone, and that we could heal and grow from our experiences. If me sharing this vulnerable piece of me serves even one woman who is suffering, I will know it was all worth it.
