Breathe Bracelets

Inhale.

It’s the first thing we do when we are born.

Pause.

At the top of each breath, we pause.
This fleeting moment is symbolic of everything that happens between the moment we are born and the moment we die.

Exhale.

It’s the last thing we do when we pass on.

Your breathe bracelet has two distinct sides: One represents the inhale (birth), and the other represents the exhale (death) of each breath we take. Each side is separated by a unique symbol which represents the ever-so-fleeting pause at the top of the breath (life).

Let it serve as your reminder of the importance of being HERE, in this very moment;

For this moment is truly all we have.

But your breathe bracelet is far more than just a symbol! It is a tool that you can use in your daily life to help you find balance whenever you need it - Be it an everyday moment of reconnection, or amidst a turbulent and difficult time. Your breathe bracelet is always there; Reminding you that you’ve got everything you need at your disposal, no matter what life throws at you.

You have EVERYTHING you need.

Let me prove it to you.

Have you ever heard of the autonomic nervous system? It’s the part of the body that does all of the things we don’t have to think about.

It breathes for us.
It makes our heart beat.
It controls our digestion.
It even controls blood flow throughout the entire body.

And the autonomic nervous system (or ANS for short) can run on two very different settings: Sympathetic and parasympathetic.

When we use our sympathetic nervous system (also known as our “fight-or-flight” response), blood flow moves AWAY from the organs of digestion and detoxification and into our limbs so we can fight or flee from a perceived predator. Our liver also releases glucose (sugar) into our blood to provide us with a quick burst of energy in the event that we need to fight said predator, impacting our body’s overall blood sugar balance and stability.

When we use our parasympathetic nervous system (also known as our “rest-and-digest” response), blood flow moves into the organs or digestion and elimination so we are able to more effectively digest our food, eliminate excess hormones and even absorb more of the vitamins and minerals from our food. It helps us to better detoxify from the chemical stressors we come in contact with through our everyday lives.

We can thank our ANS for our ability to slam on the brakes when someone cuts us off on the highway. We can thank it for our ability to reach out in an instant when we see our child about to take a tumble. Our ANS is always working to support us based on the information we provide it, and we can switch between the parasympathetic and sympathetic responses in a matter of seconds.

But here’s the problem…

In this busy age we live in, with cellphones and social media and a higher workload than ever before, it is estimated that the average North American is living in a stressed, “Fight-or-flight” state more than 70% of their lives.

That’s a lot of stress!

Think about it: Just the simple act of scrolling through social media upon waking creates a spike in cortisol levels in the blood (our stress hormone), resulting in a shift in our physiology. Oftentimes we may not even realize we’re stressed. When we’re sitting in traffic, when we’re scrolling through Facebook, or even when we’re simply thinking of a memory of something that happened 20 years ago, we can be literally changing blood flow within our body.

The body responds to the information we give it, and sometimes we may not even be aware of what we are telling it to do.

That stops now.

If only we could flick a switch in the body that could move our body out of the “fight-or-flight” state and back into the “rest-and-digest” state, where regeneration and healing can occur.

What if our body already has a switch?

Here’s the good news: Studies show that if we allow ourselves just 10 slow, conscious deep breaths, our body can move back into the “rest-and-digest” state. It’s true that our body is always working to support us; so long as we understand what messages to send it.

Here’s where your breathe bracelet comes in.

If you ever find yourself in a place of overwhelm, anxiety, uncertainty, distraction or stress, look down at your bracelet. Remove it from your wrist and hold one of the beads nearest to the knot between your thumb and forefinger. Take a slow, deep breath. Focus on breathing into your heart. Move to the next bead, and do the same.

Continue this practice until you reach the other end of the knot. Allow yourself just a handful of breaths. You’re not too busy, and it’s not silly.

You have time. I promise.

Your breathe bracelet contains only 100% genuine crystals, and sturdy, pre-stretched cord for maximum comfort. We use absolutely NO toxic glues or sealants, which is why we chose to leave the knot visible as a place to begin your breathing practice.

Your piece may vary slightly in colour or texture because our stones are genuine and Mama Nature makes them all unique.

Your purchase requires absolutely NO shipping fees.

If you’re within the Ottawa Valley area, you can also find Breathe Bracelets at the Awe Yoga studio in Pembroke, ON for a discounted price.
